This is a pewter banded horn which carries some European characteristics. The bottom band and the collar are cast from pewter and turned on a lathe. The spout is turned from antler and is attached with handmade brass nails. There is a horn button set on a horn disk in the bottom plug and these were made from the cut-off pieces of the horn itself. The horn button also has a disk of silver inlaid in it. The name plate is made from a silver proof and was heated and flattened and then cut out with a jeweler's saw. Once I completed that I relief engraved it. The proud purchaser of the horn can have their initials engraved into the plate. The wood is a nice piece of American Walnut.
